I've been trying my hand at kefir lately.  It's a pro-biotic drink.  You can basically put any type of fruit in it plus some sugar and let it ferment for a day or so.  The kefir grains feed off the sugar and produce a carbonated pro-biotic drink.  I put an apple, some blueberries, and some ginger in this batch.  It turned out pretty good.  We don't prefer kefir as much as kombucha, but the health benefits are nice for what we have to work with at the moment.  (We're waiting for a scoby to start the kombucha.)
